The Candy Bowl Theory

It doesn’t take an exorbitant amount of effort to talk to people. Whether you’re shy and introverted or outgoing and an extrovert, human interaction fulfills a basic need for conversation and connection, even when those moments are fleeting. Something as simple as putting out a candy bowl at work is not only just a nice thing to do for colleagues when you know they’re in need of a pick-me-up or that they simply can’t resist a Three Musketeers bar, but it is also a small proactive step that you can take to get people’s attention off the screen of their phone and focused onto what will hopefully become a conversation with you.
